Gene York

Donald E. York (Gene), 86, of Corinth, KY passed away peacefully at his home after a long illness on Thursday April 14, 2022. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Blanche York and his siblings: Ronald (Norma) York, John Dennis (Marie) York, Timothy York;  a great-grandson, Kyle, son-n-law, David Ison and daughter-n-law, Debbie York.

Gene, as he was affectionately known, was united in marriage on July 25, 1953 in Covington, KY to the former Margie Mullins; she survives. He retired from General Motors in Norwood, OH; he enjoyed fishing, hunting, but his two greatest fulfillments in life were playing music and spending time with his family.  He attended New Columbus Methodist Church and will long be remembered for his teasing personality and quick wit.  He will be missed by so many.

He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife of 69 years, Margie; one son: Rodney (Lannie) and their children, Crystal, Susan, Travis, Sarah and Troy; a daughter: Tracy (late Dr. David) Ison and her children, Talia (late Dr. Jeffrey) Weinberg and her children, Leryn, Cole Greene and son, Levi and a sister: Norma (Zemer) Hammond.   Many great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews also survive.

Visitation will be Tuesday April 19, 2022 from 11:00 a.m. till 1:00 p.m. at McDaniel Funeral Homes in Corinth.  Funeral services will begin at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Brad Vincent officiating.  He will be laid to rest in the New Columbus Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers are: Danny York, Travis York, Cole Greene, Levi Greene, Mike York and Gregory York; serving as honorary pallbearers are: Mark York and Kolt Gibson.
