Geneva Bramlett Burton , was born December 9, 1930 and just celebrated her 92 nd birthday. Geneva married David Burton until he passed away September, 2008.
Geneva was born to Gertrude Souder Bramlett Helm and Walton Bramlett. She had one sister, Juanita Bramlett Wright Morgan who passed away in 1996. She and her sister were raised by their grandparents, Maggie & Ross Souder in Corinth after their father drowned while fishing in Perry Park, KY and their mother remarried.
Geneva was a homemaker and devoted mother of 4 children: Paula Burton Jones (Clifford), Tenia Burton Baldwin (Mark), Barry Burton, and Stephen "Scotty" Burton (Rob). She kept her children close to her.
She has 6 grandchildren: Megan Jones, Erin Wheeler & Jonathan Baldwin, Charles Burton & Jennifer Burton Wood, Destiny Gordon, and 8 great-grandchildren: Kayla, David & Austin Burton, Connor & Natalie Wheeler, Grace Wood and Easton & Barrett Baldwin. She has one great-great grandson Tate Burton.
Over the years Geneva cared for many of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her greatest joy was “raising” children.
She always enjoyed visits from every single one, and took time to listen to how their life was going and what they were doing. She made sure they knew she loved them and would give them “blunt” true answers of what she thought. She wanted the best for her family and everyone she knew.
She worked for Jefferson Electric in Williamstown for 9 years until the company closed in 1988. Then she babysat Paula’s daughter, Megan, and enjoyed taking her to story time at the library every week, along with working puzzles and coloring with her until Megan began school.
Geneva wanted to stay in her own home so her son, Barry, lived with her since 2008 to make that possible. They took care of each other.
She was an avid Elvis fan and loved listening to his music and spent time reading and working word puzzle books, and watching her soap operas.
Geneva loved her church – New Columbus Methodist Church and attended until she was no longer physically able.
