George Boggs

George Boggs of Williamstown, Kentucky, passed away at his residence on Saturday, December 24th, 2022, at the age of 86. Originating from Carter County, Kentucky, he was born in the city of Jacobs on Wednesday, January 22nd, 1936 to the late William and Edna Boggs. Along with his parents, George is preceded in death by his daughter, Karen Elaine Boggs, in addition to four of his siblings: Roy Boggs, Berl Boggs, Clifford Boggs and Christine Boggs Hanshaw.

George was the embodiment of a true cowboy. From his first breath of life until the day he died, the world was his frontier. Leaving home around the age of 16 with little more than a knife and a satchel at his side, he headed West to see what that beautiful country had to offer. Along his westward travels, George learned the ways of a verifiable rancher, only putting his reins down to serve in the Army’s 101st Airborne Division. Following his time in the military, he continued to practice the labor he loved, devoting his body and soul to the range. In the course of his career, he established and operated dozens of ranches along the Southern and Western regions of the country. Ranches throughout Montana, Arizona, Oklahoma, Oregon, Texas, Louisiana, Colorado, and California all owe their origin to George and his life’s work. The land was his church.

George is survived by his daughter, Shannon A. Boggs Webster-Brown (Sean) of Williamstown, KY, his son, Steven Scott Boggs (Melinda) of Pickerington, OH; as well as four of his siblings: Janetta Huffman, Ilda Mae Stallard, Rosalee Bradshaw, and Cecil James Boggs. George leaves a legacy of his eight grandchildren: Eric Sagan Boggs, Olivia Noelle Boggs Jeremy Boggs, Justin Boggs, Steven Boggs, Jenna Boggs, Sierra Boggs, and Jett Boggs.

Services for George will be conducted at a later date at the convenience of the family.
