George "Pete" Robert Capito, 94, of Albany, KY, passed away Friday October 22, 2021 at Shawneespring of Harrison Nursing and Rehabilitation Care, with his wife of 75 years at his bedside, along with other family members. Born December 3, 1926 in Covington, KY, he was the son of the late Daniel M. and Gladys R. Smith Capito. On February 9, 1946 in Covington, KY, "Pete", as he was affectionately known, was united in marriage to the former Mary Louise Browning; she survives. He was the owner and proprietor of Capito School of Art in Northern Kentucky. Being a gifted and talented artist and having a special love and appreciation for music, he played many different instruments, but his favorite instrument was the mandolin. His wife would often say, “He could do everything with that mandolin but make it talk.” He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during WW II; he was on the naval base of Pearl Harbor on Sunday morning December 7, 1941 when it was attacked. He was a member of Cave Spring Baptist Church in Albany, KY. He leaves to cherish his memory, six grandchildren: Chaney Capito of Union, KY, Elizabeth (Zachary) Rizzo of Hebron, KY, Michaela (Logan) Epperson of Dry Ridge, KY, Randall Capito II of Rome, GA, Stephanie Capito of Dry Ridge, KY and Brandie (Dana) Capito of Elsmere, KY; 16 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; one brother: Harry Eugene Capito of Spokane, WA; along with several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by both of his sons: Michael N. Capito and Randall A. Capito. Visitation will be Thursday October 28th from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Stanley Funeral Homes (Crittenden location). Funeral services will begin at 1 p.m. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens in Erlanger.
