George L. Hughes

December 9, 1942 — June 22, 2021

George Luther Hughes was born December 9, 1942 and passed away June 22, 2021 in Union, Kentucky at the age of 78.  He was the son of the late Ralph and Mabel Thompson Hughes.

On Feb. 17, 1963 George was united in marriage to Carol Lee Cornett Hughes.  She preceded him in death in 2015. In addition to his wife he was preceded in death by a sister and her husband: Wanda Walker (Bill); and a brother-in-law: John Norris.

George is survived by his daughter: Robin Zentmeyer (Jim) of Cincinnati; a son: George P. Hughes of Williamstown; 3 brothers: Philip Hughes, Ralph Hughes, Jr. (Sue) and Gary Hughes (Debbie); 2 sisters: Jean Schappacher (Roy) and Alice Norris; 3 grandchildren: Brooke, Grant and Catherine Zentmeyer; and many nephews and nieces.

He was a retired self employed dump truck driver.  George enjoyed playing the guitar, loved animals, being on his farm and collecting cars.

Funeral services will be 1:00 PM, Sunday, June 27, 2021 at Elliston-Stanley Funeral Home in Williamstown.  Visitation will be 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM Sunday at the funeral home.  Burial will be in the Battle Grove Cemetery in Cynthiana.
