George Edward Pickett

George Edward Pickett , 77, of Williamstown, KY, died Monday November 27, 2023 at University of Cincinnati Medical Center.  Born on May 3, 1946 in Grant County, KY, he was the son of the late Raymond Petty and Ora (Bates) Pickett.

On July 25, 1965, George was united in marriage to the former Arnetta Davis; she survives. He worked for BFI Industries and Marvin Marksberry Roofing but his greatest fulfillment came from tilling the soil of the land he loved on his farm. When it came to farming equipment, nothing could surpass his love for John Deere.  He made a profession of faith at Mt. Pisgah Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Arnetta Pickett; one daughter: Tammy Jane Pickett; two sons: George Pickett II, Gregory (B.J.) Pickett, all of Williamstown; one brother: Eugene (Deanie) Pickett of Williamstown, three sisters: Norma Gaskins, of Mt. Vernon, Linda Kalinyak of Mt. Vernon and Donna Sue Wright of New Liberty. Twelve grandchildren also survive, along with 18 great-grandchildren, all of whom lovingly called him “Papaw”.  He was preceded in death by four brothers: Harvey Pickett, Raymond Pickett, Jr., Michael Ray Pickett, Donald Pickett and three sisters: Pearl Chipman, Mary Lou Smith and Patty Pickett.

Visitation will be Tuesday December 5, 2023 from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Stanley Funeral Homes – Williamstown.  Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday December 6, 2023 with Rev. Howard Chipman officiating.

George will be laid to rest on the family farm in the Holbrook Community.
