Geraldine "Gerry" Justice Childress

Geraldine “Gerry” Elnor Childress , 90, of Dry Ridge, KY, entered her eternal home on Sunday April 7, 2024 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center – Fort Thomas. Born on August 21, 1933 in Folsom, KY, she was the daughter of the late Jerry Lawrence and Edna Ethel Crouch.

Gerry was a 1951 graduate of Grant County High School.  On November 25, 1953 she was united in marriage to Louis L Justice; he preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her second husband, John Childress. She was a faithful and committed housewife and homemaker. Over the years, she had served as a cashier with Grant Co. Drugs, work in housekeeping at St. Elizabeth Medical Center and worked a Dr. Scholl’s Shoe manufacturing in Owenton.  She loved spending time with family. When time would allow she enjoyed embroidery and traveling.  As a young girl, 79 years ago in 1945, she made a profession of faith at Vine Run Baptist Church where she has faithfully served her Lord; she taught for many years as a Sunday School Teacher for the younger children and sang in the church choir.

She leaves to carry on her legacy of love, one daughter: Vicki (Jim) Dailey of Latonia; one son: Chris (Tammy) Justice of Frankfort and one sister: Charlotte (Charles) Hearn of Dry Ridge. Also surviving are three grandchildren: Brian Dailey, Heather (John Sandman) Dailey, Stacey (Mark) Straub; five great grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren, all of whom lovingly called her “Mamaw Gerry”. In addition to her husbands, Louis Justice and John Childress, she was preceded in death by a son, Marvin Lee Justice a brother, Wayne Crouch and a sister, Linda Lou Crouch.

Visitation will be Saturday April 13, 2024 from 11:00 a.m. till 1:00 p.m. at Eckler – McDaniel Funeral Home in Dry Ridge.  Funeral services will begin at 1:00 with Rev. David Foley officiating.  Burial will follow in New Vine Run Cemetery.
