Gisela Charlotte Neumann Smith was born February 10, 1920 in Treuburg, Germany and passed away June 13, 2019 at the age of 99. She was the daughter of the late Ernst Carl and Berta "Betty" Gorlo Neumann. She accompanied her parents from Germany to the United States at the age of 6.
On Oct. 9, 1943, Gisela was united in marriage to Holton Smith who preceded her in death in 2015. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by 2: grandsons: Kyle Simpson and Bryan Whitehouse.
Gisela was a member of the Williamstown Baptist Church where she served in many volunteer capacaties over the years. In addition to the church she was formerly a very active member of the Order of the Eastern Star #301 in Williamstown and a member of the Pleasant View Homemakers.
She was a 1938 graduate of the Metropolitan Business College in Stenography. She was known for her passion for her work and she followed that passion as she worked in the medical field for many years. She was energetic and productive in all she pursued. In addition to her work and civic activities she had many passions. She loved sewing and knitting, gardening and flowers, and had a special enjoyment of travelling and camping with her husband.
Gisela is survived by 2 daughters: Karla Patricia Kirk (Bobby) of Lexington and Debbie Simpson of Georgetown; 2 grandchildren: Darren Whitehouse and Kylena Smith (Mark); and 6 great grandchildren: Courtney Whitehouse, Jillian Smith, Mia Smith, Piper Smith, Sabin Smith and Lilly Smith.
Funeral services will be 12:30 PM, Tuesday, June 18, 2019 at Elliston-Stanley Funeral Home, Williamstown. Visitation will be 10:00 AM - 12:30 PM at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery, North in Williamstown.
