Mrs. Gladys M. Smallwood Rowland Drifmeyer of Cincinnati, OH. and formerly of Dry Ridge, KY. passed away Sunday, July 26 at Home at Hearthstone in Cincinnati at the age of 96. Mrs. Drifmeyer was born December 2, 1923 in Manchester, KY. to the late Bev Smallwood and Louise Brumley Smallwood. Mrs. Drifmeyer was a retired machine operator for the Kroger Company and had worked in their candy plant in Springdale, OH. Mrs. Drifmeyer was a member of the Hope Lutheran Church in Cincinnati.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Drifmeyer was preceded in death by her first husband, Elbert R. Rowland and her second husband, Raymond W. Drifmeyer. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Deborah Rowland and by a stepson, Gregory Drifmeyer.
Mrs. Drifmeyer is survived by 2 sons: Carlos R. Rowland and his wife Nancy of Dry Ridge, KY., Daniel L. Rowland and his wife Carol of Dry Ridge, KY., 2 daughters: Christine Kendrick and her husband Donald of West Chester, OH., Theresa Brickler of Cincinnati, OH., 2 stepsons: Eugene Drifmeyer and his wife Helen of Virginia, Chester Drifmeyer and his wife Mae of London, KY. She has 10 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, 5 great, great grandchildren and 9 step grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mrs. Gladys Drifmeyer will be conducted 3:00 pm Wednesday, July 29 in the chapel of the Elliston-Stanley Funeral Home, 500 North Main Street, Williamstown, KY. 41097 with Pastor Lowell Michelson officiating. Visitation will also be Wednesday, July 29 from 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm. Burial will be 1:00 pm on Thursday, July 30 in the Rowland Family Cemetery, Beattyville, KY. Memorial donations if desired may be directed to Grant County Helping Hands or to the Bella Care Hospice.
