Gladys Woods Long

Gladys Marie Woods Long, an Edgewood resident, passed away on Saturday, August 31, 2024 at St. Elizabeth Healthcare in Edgewood, KY, at the age of 91.  She was the wife of Robert "Bob" William Long, whom survives.

Gladys was born in Prestonburg, KY on November 11, 1932 to the late Joseph Lee Woods and Shirleen Burchett Woods.  Gladys was a  member of the Northern KY Baptist Church in Lakeside Park, KY.  She was a waitress at the Jenny Wiley State Park for many years.  She loved sewing, crocheting, working in her flower garden, vacationing winters in Florida, traveling on cruise ships and watching game shows.  Her family loved spending time with her on Sunday afternoons where she faithfully cooked Sunday dinners for the family.  She was especially known for her homemade biscuits and BBQ ribs.  Gladys loved to go to lunch with her church family, among them Maggie and Denise.

Gladys is survived by her husband Robert "Bob" Long (married Dec. 5, 1986) of Edgewood, KY, three daughters, Theresa Bradley, Kim Riddle, Linda Woodyard, five grandchildren, two step grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by a step son Mark Long, step daughter Belinda Long, two brothers, Wesley Hobert Woods, Marshall Samuel Woods and one grandchild.

Visitation will be Monday, September 9, 2024 from 11am-1pm at the Elliston - Stanley Funeral Home in Williamstown, KY.  Funeral services will be at 1pm.  Pastor Tim Schelling will be officiating services.  Burial will follow in the Williamstown Cemetery.  Memorials are suggested to the Gideon's International.
