Gordon Baker

Gordon Baker, 83, passed away Sunday January 26, 2020 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center – Edgewood after a brief illness. Born February 10, 1936 in Felty, KY (Clay Co.), he was the son of the late William and Pearl Campbell Baker.

On June 14, 1958 in Manchester, KY, he was united in holy matrimony to his beautiful bride, the former Ada Frances Riley; she survives. He was employed as a machinist at Signoide Plastic Products for many years; he had previously worked for Ford Motor Company.

He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was an avid outdoorsman; he loved golfing with his special friends at Eagle Creek Country Club. He had a genuine love and appreciation for playing his banjo, especially with Bluegrass Gospel. His #1 love in life was serving his Master, which he did honorably at Tabernacle Baptist Church in Dry Ridge. For a total of over 30 years he served as a Deacon; the last 20 years he served in that capacity at Tabernacle Baptist as well as their song leader.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 61 years, Ada Frances; one daughter: Diana Huesman of Dry Ridge, KY; four sons: Mark (Anita) Baker of Independence, KY, Mike (Paula) Baker of Dry Ridge, KY, Gordon Baker, Jr. of Morningview, KY, William (Gina) Baker of Dry Ridge, KY; one brother: Lee (Agnes) Baker of Cincinnati, OH and one sister: Della Mae Quatman of Williamstown, KY. Twenty-one grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren also survive, along with numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by six brothers: Nelson, Forrest, Bob, Fred, Jimmy and Jack Baker and four sisters: Ella Mobley, Nola Baker, Estella Baker and Ina Allen.

Visitation will be Thursday morning beginning at 9:30 a.m. and going until the time of the funeral at 11:30 a.m. at Stanley Funeral Homes – Williamstown location, with Pastor Larry Workman officiating. Burial will follow at Kentucky Veteran Cemetery – North (KVC-N) in Williamstown with full Military Honors.
