Gregory “Greg” Deimling, a gifted risk management consultant, mentor, and cherished friend, passed away peacefully on April 23, 2025, at the age of 77, in Williamstown, Kentucky. Greg was a man of remarkable intelligence, deep generosity, and unforgettable humor—a rare combination that left a lasting impression on everyone he met.
Greg did his military service in the Air Force from 1966 to 1969, attaining the rank of Sargeant for the Titan II Missile Program at Vandenberg AFB.
Greg served as Principal at Malecki Deimling Nielander and Associates, LLC, where he led expert witness and litigation consulting efforts in the property and casualty industry. He was a trusted advisor to individuals, families, public entities, and nonprofits, always offering not just expertise but genuine care. With a specialty in personal risk management for high-net-worth and multigenerational families, Greg had a way of making complex issues clear—and even a little fun.
His academic and professional credentials were extensive: a BBA in Insurance and Finance from the University of Cincinnati, an MBA in Finance from Xavier University, and professional designations including CPCU, ARM, CRIS, and AMIM. Greg was a pillar of the CPCU Society, where he volunteered for over three decades, holding positions from committee chair to National Secretary/Treasurer.
But for those who knew Greg, it wasn’t just about the résumé. It was about his spirit. Whether he was navigating thorny risk management challenges or installing mismatched sale windows in his uniquely charming home, Greg brought his whole self to every endeavor—with heart, humor, and unmistakable flair.
One friend shared, “We did serious business together for the Society and still managed to laugh our way through it. What fun we had.” Another recalled being hosted in Greg’s self-styled “Presidential Suite,” a home filled with character and love. To many, he was a “shining star,” always ready to help, always making others feel smarter and better just by being in his presence.
Greg and his wife, Joan, loved to travel whether by plane, train, automobile or cruise ship. He was a devoted Husband, Father and Grandfather who enjoyed riding around the lake and sitting on the deck roasting marshmallows for S’mores around the fire pit. Greg enjoyed spending time with his friends on the Lake and his home is known as “The Christmas Tree House” to friends and neighbors because he and Joan kept a Christmas Tree and Stockings hung for their Children, Grand Children and Great Grandchildren year-round.
Greg is survived by his beloved wife, Joan Deimling, and his daughters Carissa (Damian) Stephens, Tiffany (Steven) Kempf. Brother Michael (Mitra) Deimling, Sisters Karen Sue (Don) Brown, Judith (Jesse) Steelman, Linda (Hal) Schwartz, and Grandchildren Ty’Ree Wright, Jaimen Wright, Brielle Stephens, Brittany Stephens, Hunter Kempf, Tanner O’Neill, Trevor Kempf, Michaela O’Neill, Nathan Grilliot, Ethan O’Neill, Devin Stephens, Aubreanna O’Neill, Elijah Kempf, Marcus Stephens, Isaiah Kempf, Micah Kempf, Hannah Kempf. Bonus Daughters Angela (Eric) Borchardt, Jennifer (Abe) Kotara, Bonus Grandchildren Coleby (Makenzie) Borchardt, Rheagan (James) Swanson, Bryce Borchardt, Liza Kotara and Kenny Wayne Kotara and many Great Grandchildren. Greg was preceded in death by his wife Therese Deimling and Parents Francis and Ruth Deimling.
His legacy of compassion, brilliance, and humor will continue to live on in all those he touched.
A family funeral mass will be held, at St. Williams Catholic Church, Williamstown, KY. The Celebration of Life Services will be held in Williamstown, KY and Dallas, TX (TBD). In lieu of flowers, the family invites donations to The Kidney Foundation in Greg’s memory—a fitting tribute to a man who gave so freely of himself to others.
