Gregory Allen Mackey

Gregory A. Mackey, of Walton, was born June 8, 1946 in Covington, Kentucky and passed away November 15, 2024 in Florence, Kentucky at the age of 78.  He was the son of the late Francis and Wanda Mackey.

Greg was a retired building security manager for NSG where he managed several large buildings in downtown Cincinnati including the Kroger building from 2001-2011.  After he graduated from Boone County High School, Greg joined the United States Navy where he proudly served from 1967-1972.  From 1967-1968 he cruised the Mediterranean as a Seaman aboard the Attack Aircraft Carrier USS Franklin D. Roosevelt CVA-42.  During this time he made two lifelong friends, Ron (Nancy) Kanienberg and Keith (Lynn) Noack.

On April 26, 2003 Greg was united in marriage to Carol Gibson Mackey.  In addition to his wife of 21 years he is survived by 2 sons: Sean (Jamie) Mackey of Taylor Mill and Gabriel (Alexandria) Brown of Walton; a brother: Patrick (Celeste) Mackey of Burlington; a sister: Anita (Moe) Ripperda of Damionsville, IL; three grandchildren: Luke, Ashley and Eva Lockeby; former wife and friend: Ann (Mike) Soldano; numerous nieces and nephews; and his four legged sons: Finnley, Fletcher, Chester and Mondo.

Greg was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Hoffman, a nephew, John Hoffman, and a niece, Sarah Hoffman.

Visitation will be 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM, Saturday, November 23, 2024 at Hamilton-Stanley Funeral Home, 14635 Walton-Verona Rd., Verona, KY 41092.  Funeral services will be 12:00 PM, Saturday, Nov. 23, 2024 at Hamilton-Stanley Funeral Home, Verona.  Burial with military honors will follow in the Hill Crest Cemetery in Dry Ridge.
