Harold "Buzzy" O'Banion

Harold “Buzzy” Stephen O’Banion, 76, a Dry Ridge, KY resident, died Tuesday January 31, 2023 at his residence after a brief but courageous battle with brain cancer.  Born on Monday January 6, 1947 in Mason, KY, he was the son of the late Steve and Alma Frances Gray O’Banion.

On May 29, 1968, at Williamstown Baptist Church, “Buzzy” was united in marriage to the former Brenda Kaye Osborne, she survives. He was a 1965 graduate of Grant Co. High School. After 39 ½ years as a Railroad Conductor for Norfolk-Southern Railway, he retired on February 1, 2007. Loving life and having a great sense of humor is one of the great characteristics of which “Buzzy” will long be remembered; even in the midst of his sickness he always accentuated the positive.  He was a member of Antioch Church of Christ.

Survivors, in addition to his wife of 54 years, Brenda Kaye O’Banion, include three grandchildren: Lilly Amber Rae O’Banion of Dry Ridge, Steven (Brandi) Patrick O’Banion and Stephanie Good, both of Williamstown, along with five great-grandchildren: Aksel, Jaislyn, Millie, Lane and Garridyn and a brother: David Kline O’Banion from Sioux Falls, S.D.  He was preceded in death by both of their sons: Bryan “Bernie” Stephen O’Banion and Jason “Jake” Patrick O’Banion and a sister: Betty Eloise Wright.

Visitation will be Monday February 6, 2023 from 10:00 a.m. till 1:00 p.m. at Stanley Funeral Homes – Williamstown.  Funeral services will begin at 1:00 with Pastor Devin Hurley officiating.  Burial will follow in Williamstown Cemetery.
