Harold Edward Covey, 93, of Dry Ridge, KY united with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday August 15, 2023 at St. Elizabeth Hospice Care in Edgewood. Born on January 30, 1930 in Covington, KY, he was the son of the late Sonny Melvin and Vie Boling Covey.
On November 16, 1947, Harold was united in holy matrimony to the former Wanda Ruth Pence; she preceded him in death on Sunday May 28th of this year. In his early years he worked for National Cash Register (NCR) in Dayton, OH and Square – D in Florence, KY but moved to Grant County where he passionately loved tilling the soil of the land he loved and owned. Being a prudent farmer, he loved raising a garden every year, cutting hay, raising tobacco, chickens, hogs and cattle; he, along with his late wife, instilled strong work ethics in the lives of their children. He was an avid hunter; providing well for his family with the meat and vegetables they raised on the farm. At an early age, he made a profession of faith and was baptized and developed a vigorous passion for gospel music.
His legacy will continue to live on through his children, two daughters: Rita (John) Gabbard of Independence, KY, Patricia (Bill) Mann of Dry Ridge, KY, along with four brothers: Delmar (Mona) Covey of Tennessee, Dallas (Barbara) Covey of Ohio, Donald (Pat) Covey of Florida, David (Carol) Covey of Tennessee; two sisters: Jewell Carroll of Dawson Springs, KY, Opal Covey of Ohio and nine grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of almost 76 years, Wanda Covey; four sons: Butch Covey, Terry Covey, Melvin Covey, Doug Covey; two sisters: Goldie Noel, Bonnie Covey and two baby siblings: Dale Covey and Evelyn Covey.
