Harold Lee Mckee

July 24, 1970 — March 11, 2021

Harold Lee McKee , 50, of Dry Ridge, KY, died March 11, 2021 at University of Cincinnati Medical Center from injuries sustained in a logging accident on February 22.  Born on July 24, 1970 in Nicholas County, KY, he was the son of William H. McKee and the late Rosetta Sue Whalen.

On April 14, 1989, Harold was united in marriage to the former Janet Lynn Thomas, she survives.  He was the owner and operator of McKee Logging Services, where he was a master logger. He will always be remembered as a hard working individual who loved his family and being outdoors; he also loved planting a garden and canning the produce from his garden, but his greatest joy came from spending time with his grandchildren, taking them down to the creek “crawdad” fishing and rabbit hunting with his daughter, Stephanie.  He drew much excitement from telling people he made a profession of faith several years ago at Elliston Baptist Church and was baptized in the creek.

He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife of 32 years, Janet McKee; one daughter: Stephanie McKee (fiancé - Justin Garvey); his father: William (Mildred) McKee of Salt Lick; five brothers: Michael (Jackie) McKee of Beechburg, Robert Jolly of Myers Station, Harvey (Vickie) Jolly of Falmouth, Kenny (Jenny) Whalen of Mt. Olivet, Henry (Cindy) Whalen of Falmouth; three sisters: Eugonda (Lee) Fryman of Cynthiana, Janice (Rex) Shepherd of Mt. Sterling, Glenda McKee of Frenchburg; a step-father: Robert Whalen of Falmouth; three grandchildren, all of whom lovingly called him “Papaw”: Justin Vance, Kiera Vance, Thomas Garvey and a special niece: Marlena (Kregina) Fryman.  Many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, sister-n-laws and brother-n-laws also survive.  He was preceded in death by his mother: Rosetta Sue Whalen; three brothers: Robert Whalen, Jr., Harold Ray McKee, Scottie Paul McKee; a sister: Judy Little and two cousins: Randy Jolly and Chris Jolly.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday March 18, 2021 at Stanley Funeral Homes (Crittenden location) at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Rex Gibson officiating.  Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. and go until the time of the funeral.  Burial will follow in Hill Crest Cemetery.
