Harold Eugene Spoonamore, Sr. , 77, of Dry Ridge, KY, passed away Thursday October 12, 2023 at St. Elizabeth Hospice Care in Edgewood. Born Thursday June 6, 1946 in Laurel, IN, he was the son of the late Edward J. “Buck” and Betty Lou Gentry Spoonamore.
On September 15, 1967 in Rising Sun, IN, Harold was united in marriage to the former Joan Leslie Tschaenn; she survives. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force. For much of his life he was a Radar Technician; he was responsible for guarding and protecting the boundaries of the Bering Sea in the Canadian and Russian territories. As an electronics designer and computer developer, he gained much knowledge in regard to installing and maintaining equipment essential for on-the-ground surveillance. He took great interest in trapping and hunting, which included moose, grizzly, caribou, elk and beavers. The adventures, along with gold panning, took him to many exciting places around the world, but all these adventures paled in comparison to the great characteristics that made him the individual for which he will be long remembered. He was a faithful husband of 56 years, loving and caring father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and uncle. Reaching out to anyone and everyone who had a need, regardless of who they were, was his highest calling in life.
He leaves to continue his legacy, his wife, Joan Leslie Spoonamore of Dry Ridge; four grandchildren: Jordon Lainhart (Jamie), Patrick (Erin) Spoonamore, Cory (Morgan) Spoonamore, Alexis (Nick) Spoonamore and 17 great-grandchildren: Gunnar Spoonamore, Remington Spoonamore, Ryleigh Spoonamore, Tate Spoonamore, Audrey Spoonamore, Trinity Spoonamore, Raylynn Spoonamore, Bexley Spoonamore, Aurora Spoonamore, Charleigh Spoonamore, Adalynn Spoonamore, Karter Spoonamore, Tripp L ainhart, Grady Lainhart, Jenson Lainhart, Brynlee Spoonamore, Danielle Nicholas; a special daughter-n-law: Lori Spoonamore, along with two brothers: Dave (Dawn) Spoonamore, Timothy (Kim) Spoonamore, both of Petersburg, KY; three sisters: Mary (Davey) Holdcraft, Wanda (Rick) Campbell, both of Petersburg and Margie Spoonamore of Burlington.
