Helen Emogene Martin

Helen Emogene Martin, age 95, formerly of Dry Ridge, KY, passed away Tuesday, November 1, 2022 at Georgetown Community Hospital.  Born Tuesday March 1, 1927 in Dry Ridge; she was the youngest of 7 children to Thomas Jefferson Hutchinson and Mary Catherine Hutchinson.

She was married on November 23, 1946 to B.D. Martin until his passing in 1997.  She is survived by sons: Dennis (Darla) of Lexington, KY and Donald (Anna Ray) of Dry Ridge, KY.  Also surviving are grandchildren: Hayley (Chris) Nantz, Summer Martin, Craig (Valerie) Martin, Ashley (Mark) Coleman and Lana Russell. Helen is also survived by great-children: Tyler Martin, Caleb Martin, Avery Martin, Parker Coleman, Olivia Coleman and Reagan Russell, all of whom lovingly called her “Grandma”. She was preceded in death by all her siblings: Edward Paul Hutchinson, Harry Hutchinson, Freddie Hutchinson, Alberta Colcord, Mabel Baird and Beatrice Fortner.

Helen worked at several jobs before spending the majority of her career as the Office Manager for Federal Land Bank Association in Dry Ridge.  Traveling with her late husband, B.D., particularly during all his public service engagements, proved to be one of her greater enjoyments, along with maintaining her flower garden, where she was known for her “Green Thumb” abilities. She was a lifelong member of Dry Ridge Christian Church.

Visitation will be held Saturday, November 5, 2022 at Eckler-McDaniel Funeral Home in Dry Ridge from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Tim Polley officiating.  Burial will follow in Hill Crest Cemetery.
