Herbert Roger Bowling

Mr. Herbert Roger Bowling of Corinth, KY. entered into the loving arms of his Lord and Savior on January 13, 2022 at the age of 62.  Roger was born June 25, 1959 in the Appalachian Mountains of Eastern Kentucky.  In 1979 he married his beloved wife Shirley Ruth Hall Bowling.  He worked as a coal miner for Lee coal company in Harlan County, KY. until his nearly fatal mining accident that he endured until his passing. Among his many accomplishments was Pioneering Clover Mission Church in Williamstown, KY. in 2016 where he served as an ordained deacon.  Roger selflessly served 19 years as Lieutenant EMT for the Tri-City Rescue Squad saving thousands of lives.  He owned and operated a snow cone truck, where every child received a cone no matter their income.  His selflessness and generosity continued as he and his wife Shirley established Manna Food Mission in 2014, currently serving 300-400 families with free food.  Roger was an incredible Man of God and shared the Gospel with each person he met.  He loved his faith family friends and his precious Maltese dog "Zozo Zoey".  Roger was an avid NASCAR fan.  He loved to go fishing, watching westerns and spending time with his family and friends.  His favorite scripture was "and if I go to prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you unto myself, that where I am, there you may be also.", John 14:3.  Roger's legacy will be carried on through generations he builds in their lives with the firm foundation of Jesus Christ.  Roger is preceded in death by his mother Marzone Baker Bowling, his brother Roy Bowling and sisters: Linda Bowling and Mary Thacker.  Also preceded in death by grandparents: Sid and Hannah Baker.  Preceded by cousins: Clayton and Claude Davis.

Roger is survived by his wife: Shirley Hall Bowling, 1 brother: Willie Bowling of TN., 1 daughter: Vickie Vermillion and husband Scott of Sadieville, KY., 2 sons: Scottie Hall and his wife Brandy of Dry Ridge, KY., Shawn Bowling and his wife Amanda of Corinth, KY.  Grandchildren: Sydney Vermillion (Jerry VanZant, II) Ethan Vermillion, Heaven, Korybelle, Korbyn, Toby and Harmony Hall.  He also raised many bonus children like his including, Leisha (Kenneth) Martin, Danielle (Gil) Limas, Virginia (Bill) Jordan, Misty Johnson, Jordan Jones, Luis and Anthony Flores, Dilon Cram, Spencer, Natalie Longhauser, Melvin (Connie) Bledsoe and Peter Heifer.  Roger had the honor of mentoring ministers Eli (Angie) McLaughlin, Jammie (Amy) Blair, Guy (Mary) Reynolds and he served as a Spiritual Father and Grandfather to a large host of many, many more wo loved and miss him dearly.

There will be a celebration of life on Thursday, January 20 at 6:00 pm at the Clover Mission Church, 2175 Heekin-Lawrenceville Road, Williamstown, KY. 41097.  The Elliston-Stanley Funeral Home of Williamstown, KY. has been entrusted with the arrangements for Mr. Herbert Roger Bowling.
