Howard "Tony" Brewer, Jr.

Howard “Tony” Brewer , 88, of Dry Ridge, KY, passed away peacefully Wednesday, December 20, 2023 at his residence surrounded by his loving and caring family.  Born on September 20, 1935, in Williamstown, KY, he was the son of the late Howard and Iva King Toole Brewer, Sr.

On June 20, 1958 he was united in marriage to the former Betty Jean Hedges; she survives. He was in the last graduating class of Dry Ridge High School. “Tony” as he was affectionately known, was a pillar, leader mentor, husband, father, grandfather and true legend. He earned the respect of many who knew him to be a compassionate leader in the community he so diligently loved.  Among the many positions of leadership, he served on the Grant Co. Farm Service Agency Board, Grant Co. Planning and Zoning, Democratic Executive Board, Chairman of Grant Co. Watch Dog Committee and a member of Northern KY - District 6 Transportation Committee. He was a member of the Crittenden - Dry Ridge Masonic Lodge #694 and attended Knoxville Baptist Church. In every capacity he served, it was his conviction to make things better than when he first started. He left this world a better place for having passed through it.  His legacy will live on in the hearts and minds of those he touched. A man of great statue has left us!!

Leaving to carry on his legacy is his wife of 65 years, Betty Brewer; one son: Huey Brewer of Dry Ridge; four daughters: Ann (Gary Wayne) Adams of Walton, Sue (Ray) Porter of Dry Ridge, Carolyn (Mike) Zimmerman of Glencoe, Kay (Mike) Cummins of Dry Ridge, along with 11 grandchildren: Sue Ellen Stamper, Debra Wilson, Diana Niceley, Troy Adams, Jaclyn Rae Jones, Katelyn MacAdams, Hughston Brewer, Dr. Rebekah Fabela, Joshua Jump, Ian Zimmerman and Kayla Cummins. Also surviving are 16 great-grandchildren, two nephews: James Holly Brewer of Grapevine, TX, Mark Arnold Brewer of Nicholasville and two cousins: Betty Sue Flege and Donna Cruey, both of Dry Ridge.  Preceding him in death is one brother, James Overton Brewer.

Visitation will be Friday December 22, 2023 from 4:00 – 8:00 at Stanley Funeral Homes – Williamstown.  Funeral services will be held on Saturday December 23 at 11:00 with Revs. Steve Kellam and Milkweed Wotier officiating.  Burial will follow in Hill Crest Cemetery.

Serving as Pallbearers are: Huey Brewer, Ray Allen Porter, Josh Jump, Troy Adams, Brad Wilson, Stuart MacAdams, Mark Brewer, Brian Niceley, Rob Stamper and Gary Wayne Adams.  Serving as Honorary Pallbearers are: Kenny Ruby, Randy Ruby, Johnny Dawalt, Mike Zimmerman, Mike Cummins and Pete Marksberry
