Ira Dumont Gouge

Ira Dumont Gouge , 82, of Walton, KY, formerly of Dry Ridge, KY, died Wednesday June 26, 2024 at Summit of Edgewood.  Born April 7, 1942 in Grant County, KY, he was the son of the late Ralph Leo and Audrey Adams Gouge.

On June 15, 1963 he was united in marriage to the former Anda Lou Penn; she preceded him in death on March 21, 2018. He was a Certified Public Accountant most of his life; much of that time was spent at Peter Wick Clinical Sales, Inc.  He was first employed in Chicago and later moved with the firm in Cincinnati.  He was a graduate of Loyola University, Roosevelt University (both in Chicago) and the University of Kentucky where he was in the ROTC. In later years he served as a Sales Rep with Baldwin Piano, while also working with Trailways Bus Lines.

At the age of 12 in Crittenden, KY, he accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior and was faithful in serving Him throughout his life. For over 30 years he was instrumental in prison ministry.  Being a student of “The Word” he enjoyed leading Bible Study, especially at Emerald Trace.  One of his greatest achievements came when he presented a case before the United States Supreme Court  --- and won the case. For over 25 years, he owned and operated a farm in Walton, KY, where he enjoyed raising cattle.  At the time of his death he was a member of Dry Ridge Baptist Church but most recently was attending Richwood Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include one daughter: Andrea L. (Matthew) Krumpelman of Hebron, KY; one son: Dwayne D. (Christine) Gouge of Union, along with numerous cousins and a special cousin-n-law: Sue Gouge of Dry Ridge, KY.  He was preceded in death by a brother: Ralph Layle Gouge and a cousin: Bobby Gouge.

Graveside services will be conducted Monday July 1, 2024 at 3:00 p.m. at Hill Crest Cemetery in Dry Ridge where he will be laid to rest next to his wife of 55 years, Anda Lou Gouge. Rev. Rich Caldwell will be officiating.
