James Lee Caldwell, born August 15, 1967, died at his home in Sherman, Kentucky, on Monday, August 19, 2024. His parting is a source of great sadness and loss. James was a farmer, mechanic, and master craftsman having worked in his local community for over forty years.
James is survived by his mother, Wilma Caldwell Brewer; his sons, Timothy James Caldwell and Andrew Caldwell; his daughter, Angela Greek; and several grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother: Randy Caldwell of Dry Ridge; and his sisters Kimberly (Kenny) Hines of Florence and Tina Sargeant of Clay City.
For James, life was about service and responsibility having acted as an end-of-life caregiver for his uncles Joe “Little Joe” Caldwell and Victor “Doc” Caldwell.
James was a hardworker and a loyal and devoted friend. During the last twenty years of his life he worked in Sherman on the Charles and Ardith Chance Farms and was best friends with their son, Mark. James never met a stranger and would support and help anyone in need. He was kind, smart and generous. He loved to fish and was a fan of NASCAR with a particular interest in Dale Earnhardt. He would take Sunday off from work to watch the Cincinnati Bengals play.
Services will be at Eckler McDaniel Funeral Home in Dry Ridge on Thursday, August 29. Visitation from 4:30 to 6:30 with services at 6:30 officiated by Milkweed Wotier. Burial will be at the convenience of the family at Hillcrest Cemetery in Dry Ridge, Kentucky. Memorial contributions in James’ honor may be made to the organization of the donor’s choice.
