James Stephen Campbell, 78, of Dry Ridge, KY, passed away Tuesday November 23, 2021 at Villasprings Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Erlanger. He was born May 9, 1943 in Covington, KY. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Ludy Esmuel Fletcher Yates.
He was an electrician by profession; he last worked for H.K. Systems Inc. in Hebron. Early in his life he served as a Police Officer and later worked construction. He was a 1961 graduate of Holmes High School in Covington and also served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War. Fishing was his favorite pastime and in earlier years he loved hunting and golfing. He was of the Catholic faith.
Survivors include one son: Stephen Lee (Kelli) Campbell of Queen Creek, AZ; two brothers: Charlie (Karen) Yates of Independence, KY, William “Billy” Yates of Elsmere; three sisters: Joyce Hayes of Elsmere, Mary Ann Johnson of Covington and Doreen (Mike) Robbins of Burlington. Five grandchildren also survive: SJ Campbell of San Tan Valley, AZ, Devon V. Campbell of Queen Creek, AZ, Matthew Campbell Queen Creek, AZ, Zachary Stratton of Elsmere, KY, Ian Stratton of Elsmere, KY along with three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Hope Ann Lenhof Campbell and a daughter, Jennifer Campbell Stratton.
A memorial service will be held Saturday November 27, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at Mt. Pisgah United Methodist Church, located at 910 Golds Valley Road in Dry Ridge with Ronnie Kinman presiding. Burial will follow in Mt. Pisgah UMC Cemetery.
