James Harold Hutton was born January 4, 1944 in Holbrook, Kentucky and passed away January 20, 2023 in Williamstown, Kentucky at the age of 79. He was the son of the late Letchel and Melva Joyce Cook Hutton.
James was a retired band director with Owen County High School and touched countless lives throughout his more than 30 years in music education. Not only did his occupation revolve around music but so did his hobbies. He loved playing music around the region and even played with a group in Northern Kentucky. He was known to be able to play any woodwind but could "make his saxophone dance."
James was a member of the Bethany Baptist Church in Holbrook. He was also a proud member of the NRA as well as the Kentucky Retired Teachers.
He is survived by two sisters: Eileen Fowler (Lamar) of Dry Ridge and Sandra Kells of Williamstown; 3 nieces: Cynthia Kells Robinson, Paula Eldridge and Sara Webb; 2 nephews: Josh Fowler and Aaron Fowler; and several great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM, Wednesday, January 25, 2023 at Elliston-Stanley Funeral Home in Williamstown. Visitation will be 4:00-8:00 PM Tuesday, January 24, 2023 at Elliston-Stanley Funeral Home in Williamstown. Burial will be in the Bethany Baptist Church Cemetery in Holbrook.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to Owen County High School Music Program, 2340 State Hwy 22, Owenton, KY 40359.
