James "Jim" Joseph Pipes

James Joseph “Jim” Pipes , 80, passed away Wednesday, September 5, 2018 at Rosedale Green Nursing and Rehab Center in Latonia, KY. Born May 24, 1938, he was the son of the late Jesse Herman and Lula Thelma Frye Pipes.

Jim was a graduate of Simon Kenton High School where he played on the basketball team. As a hobby, he also played baseball and softball. He was united in marriage to the former Ruth Anne Sanders; after 50 years of marriage, she preceded him in death. He retired from General Motors where he worked in the service department, most of that time was spent in Culver City, California. Upon retirement, he worked for Dillard’s Department Stores, in both Kentucky and Florida. He was a member of Latonia Christian Church and a veteran of the U. S. Army.

Survivors include two sisters: Peggy Spurlock of Independence, KY and Pam Schworer of Fort Wright, KY. He was preceded in death by all other siblings; they are as follows: Patricia Casey, Charlotte Casey, Doreen Wingate, Lois Duddey, Sharon Heuser, Robert Pipes, Larry Pipes and Gary Pipes.

Graveside services, with military honors, will be conducted Monday, September 10, 2018 at 12 Noon at Kentucky Veteran’s Cemetery North in Williamstown, KY Interment will follow.
