James 'Jim' Allan Thomas

Mr. James “Jim” Allan Thomas, a Dry Ridge resident, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 1, 2021 at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center at the age of 67.  He was the husband of Jill Thomas.

Jim was born on November 24, 1953 in Hopkinsville, KY to the Margaret Elaine Steers Thomas and the late James ‘Jim’ E. Thomas.  He was a retired principal at Bryan Station Middle School in Lexington, KY.  Jim was an active member and Elder of the Dry Ridge Christian Church where he worked with the outreach and Full-Plate ministry.  Jim followed in his father’s footsteps by flipping pancakes where he volunteered to serve in the annual Alzheimer’s Walk, Breakfast with Santa, and the Grant Co. Relay for Life.  He was an active member of the Grant Co. Camp of the Gideon’s International, a member and past president of the Williamstown Kiwanis Club and received the 2016 Grant County Volunteer of the Year award.  Jim loved to tutor by teaching children to read and was a volunteer literacy coach to many children in the community.  In his pastime, Jim loved watching UK Basketball and Cincinnati Reds baseball.

In addition to his wife, Jill, Jim is survived by his mother, Margaret Elaine Thomas of Florence, KY; one son Jonathan (Kleona) Thomas of New York; one brother, Rick (Connie) Thomas of Ft. Mitchell, KY; two sisters, Carolyn (Steve) Thomas-Thompson of Dry Ridge, KY, and Jennifer (Andrew) Kaiser of Stanford, KY; and one soon-to-be granddaughter.  Jim was preceded in death by his father, James ‘Jim’ Elmer Thomas and his first wife, Sandi Webster Thomas.

Visitation will be Thursday, May 6, 2021 from 10am-2pm at the Elliston – Stanley Funeral Home in Williamstown, KY.  Funeral Services will be at 2pm.  Pastor Tim Polley will be officiating services.  Burial will follow in the Hill Crest Cemetery in Dry Ridge, KY.  Memorials are suggested to either Dry Ridge Christian Church, Gideon’s International or the Williamstown Kiwanis.
