Janet Caldwell Rogers

Janet Caldwell Rogers of Crittenden, Kentucky passed away at home with her children at her side on Wednesday afternoon, August 30th, 2023, after a short illness; she was 82 years old. She was born at home on Friday, June 20th, 1941 in Crittenden, KY, to the late Edith Flynn Caldwell and Elbert Caldwell. In addition to her parents, Janet is preceded in death by an infant daughter, Deborah Lynn Richerson; as well as four of her siblings: Marilyn Adams, Carlene Livingood, Barbara Smith, and Edward Caldwell.

Janet was a Grant County High School Graduate- Class of ’59, as well as a proud member of the Crittenden Baptist Church. Throughout her life, she held a variety of jobs including homemaker, school bus driver at Mason Elementary School for over 5 years, she picked & filled orders at Levi Strauss, and worked alongside her late sister Marilyn manufacturing furnishings for Duchess Furniture for a number of years.

Janet worked at Eaton Asphalt Paving Company in Covington, Kentucky for 20 years, during which she had the pleasure of working with her sister Barbara and her daughter Lisa.  In 1995, Janet and her son Bobby began a family owned & operated trucking company: P & J Trucking, “hauling anything that fit in a trailer.” She held the position of Co-Owner at P & J for over 25 years until her passing. Janet truly loved being outdoors whenever she could- always hard at work on the farm cultivating her crops, in her garden tending to her vegetables, or out mowing her yard. An absolute inspiration to us all at her age, Janet continued to mow and maintain her own lawn up until the final few months of her life before learning of her illness.

Janet lived her life as a caregiver, constantly helping out her family and neighbors in any way she could. She loved to read, and her greatest joy in life was spending quality time with her family. Janet is survived by her two adoring children: Bobby Joe Richerson of Crittenden, KY and Lisa Ann (Michael) Browning of Dry Ridge, Kentucky. She leaves a lasting legacy of her four treasured Grandchildren: Charlotte, Carolyn, Sam, and Bobbie; and 11 Great-Grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings: Harold “Jim” (Carol) Caldwell, Alberta Caldwell, Terry Caldwell, Tony Caldwell, Greg (Cris) Caldwell, Laura (Brian) Rodgers- all of Crittenden, KY; Tom (Addie) Caldwell, Jerry (Lettie) Caldwell, Sue Epperson- all of Dry Ridge, KY; Don (Barbara) Caldwell of Crestview Hills, KY; and Jeff Caldwell of Radcliff, KY. Janet is survived as well by nieces & nephews too numerous to count- over 200, but she dearly loved each and every member of her family.

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held for Janet at the Crittenden Baptist Church on Saturday, October 7th, 2023, from 1:00PM to 5:00PM. Memorial contributions in honor of Janet may be made to the Crittenden Baptist Church- 215 Russell Dr. Crittenden, KY 41030.
