Janice Gouge Hutchison

Janice Gouge Hutchison, born on December 10, 1942, in the quaint town of Sherman, Kentucky, departed this world on April 8th, 2025, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Florence, Kentucky.  She was the widow of the late Stanley Eugene Hutchison.  Her presence, though now silenced, resonates deeply within the hearts of those she cherished.

A member of the Sherman Baptist Church, Janice enveloped her community with love and warmth. Her professional journey spanned over two decades, concluding in retirement as a data transcriptionist for the IRS in Covington, Kentucky, where her attention to detail and steadfast commitment became hallmarks of her career.

Janice was not just defined by her work, but illuminated by her family. She adored her son, Tonnie Lee Hutchison, and her daughter, Sherry Lynn Hutchison, nurturing them with a boundless love that only a mother could provide. The joy of her life was her granddaughter, Courtney Lee Hutchison, and the anticipation of becoming a great-grandmother to Henry brought an additional sparkle to her already vibrant spirit.

A graduate of Grant County High School, Janice possessed a love for knowledge that extended into her everyday life. Her quest for stories led her to the pages of countless mystery novels; her children often found themselves tasked with gathering books from various libraries to satiate their mother's insatiable appetite for intrigue. Beyond the written word, Janice found solace in the colorful embrace of her flower garden, where she could be found tending to her beloved blooms, feeding her hummingbirds, or indulging in the tranquil rhythms of nature.

Her hobbies painted a picture of a woman who cherished both creativity and connections. From crocheting delicate patterns to coaching her beloved soccer team in her youth, Janice's hands were never idle. Crossword puzzles challenged her intellect, while her fascination with her family's genealogy connected her with her roots, fostering a sense of belonging that echoed through generations.

Janice's life was enriched by the support and love of her siblings: Fred (Lumy) Gouge, Dennis (Kathy) Gouge, Steven (Lori) Gouge, Linda (Virgil) Davis, and Pamela Gouge, who cherished the bond they shared. Her spirit is intertwined with that of her deceased husband, Stanley Eugene and siblings—Robert Gouge, Richard Gouge, and Kathryn Rider—whose memories linger like whispers of a beautiful melody.

The legacy of Janice Gouge Hutchison is one of unyielding love, community involvement, and lifelong learning. As we gather to commemorate her, let us reflect on the joy she brought to us all and celebrate a life well-lived. Friends and family are invited to the Celebration of Life service on April 19, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Elliston - Stanley Funeral Home in Williamstown, Kentucky, to honor this remarkable woman whose spirit will forever light our paths.
