Jennings Bryan "JB" Curd, Jr. was born February 28, 1938 in Liberty, Kentucky and passed away January 9, 2024 in Crittenden, Kentucky at the age of 85. He was the son of the late Ethel Louise Rose and Jennings Bryan Curd, Sr.
JB retired as a conductor and brakeman with CSX Railroad in 1994. He also worked with the grounds crew at CVG Airport and as a Barber in Walton.
JB was an active member of the Crittenden Baptist Church in Crittenden. In his early years he was a drummer in a local band and enjoyed playing in local venues around Northern Kentucky. JB was a dedicated member of the Grant County High School Basketball Boosters, serving several terms as president, and spent countless hours helping to raise funds and feed the team giving them the best high school basketball experience possible. He was also an avid golfer, fisherman and UK Basketball fan.
On May 25, 1962, JB was united in marriage to Barbara Joyce Witty Curd. In addition to his wife of 61 years, he is survived by his daughters, Tammy Curd Freeman and Karianna Curd Applegate (Gabe) of Atlanta; a brother, James Edward Curd (Shirley) of Williamsburg; a sister, Katherine Bailey (Edward) of Williamsburg; seven grandchildren: Austin Freeman (Katie), Ally Applegate, Tristen Spalding, Victoria Applegate, Tanner Spalding, Cullen Applegate and Declan Applegate; and 1 great grandson, Lucas Freeman.
Visitation will be 11:00 AM - 2:00 PM, Saturday, Jan. 13, 2024 at Crittenden Baptist Church, 215 Russell Dr., Crittenden, KY 41030. Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM, Saturday, at the church. Burial will follow in the Hill Crest Cemetery in Dry Ridge.
