Jean Haines

Jean Haines, 90 a resident of Union, KY died December 25, 2019 at Boonesprings Nursing and Rehab in Union, KY. Born in Kenton County, KY on May 28, 1929, she was the daughter of the late William Jasper and Adella M. Afterkirk Black.

On July 6, 1946, she was united in marriage to Edgar “Tom” Haines, Jr.; he preceded her in death on January 10, 1990. Jean was a musically talented individual who loved playing all kinds of musical instruments; she had a special love for playing the piano, organ, keyboard, trumpet and accordion. She was an animal lover, particularly dogs, and will always be remembered for the hours she spent tending flowers. At an early age she was baptized at Florence Christian Church; in later years she held her church membership at Big Bone Methodist Church.

She leaves to mourn her passing two daughters: Susan (Jim) Hunt of Verona, KY, Sherry (Wayne) Huff of Verona, KY; five sons: Edgar Haines, of Florence, KY,  Richard Haines of Warsaw, KY, Stephen Marc Haines of Dry Ridge, KY, Randy Haines and Rodney Haines both of Williamstown, KY. Nineteen grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren also survive. She was preceded in death by three children, two of which were twins: Terry Haines and Gary Haines along with her daughter: Carolyn Haines and one grandson, Anthony "Mokey" Haines and one great-granddaughter: Patience Haines.

Visitation will be Monday December 30, 2019 from 10:00 a.m. till 1:00 p.m. at Hamilton-Stanley Funeral Home in Verona. Funeral services will begin at 1:00 with Brother Jim Hale officiating. Burial will follow in Hughes Chapel Cemetery in Union, KY.

Memorial contributions may be made in Jean’s memory to ASPCA (American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals), in care of Hamilton-Stanley Funeral Home - Verona.
