Jean Ann Phipps

Jean Ann Phipps , 82, of Walton, KY, passed away Thursday January 7, 2021 at her residence after a short illness. Born on Friday September 16, 1938 in the Beaver Lick Community of Boone Co. KY, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Earl and Sarah Elizabeth Allen Poole.

On November 23, 1956 in Lawrenceburg, IN, Jean was united in marriage to Rennie Lee Phipps; he preceded her in death on November 1, 2005.  After 33 years of service to Levi Strauss & Company, she retired in 2000 as a Supervisor.  She was a 1956 graduate of Walton High School. She will long be remembered as an avid sports fan – loving sports of all sorts but she especially loved UK basketball, NASCAR Racing, playing Rook and Euchre, but will most be remembered for her love for her family, especially her grandchildren, whom affectionately loved her as “Nana”.  She will be missed by “The Gals from ‘56”, a group of friends from her graduating class with whom she spent much time eating and conversing.  She was a member of South Fork Christian Church.

She leaves to carry on her legacy, two daughters: Terry (Bobby) Glenn of Crittenden, Mary (Tom) Ryan of Verona; one son: Gary (Joy) Phipps of Crittenden and two brothers: James (Carol) Poole of Florence and Donald (Sherry) Poole of Walton.  Five grandchildren also survive: Jenny Mitchell, Regina Pertuset, Ashlee Blaze, Sam Ryan and Carl Ryan, along with eleven  great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by a granddaughter: Amberlee Foley, two sisters: Rose Dawalt, Nell Jo Nantz and a brother: Richard Poole..

Visitation will be held Monday January 11, 2021 at Stanley Funeral Homes – Verona location, from 11:00 a.m. till the time of the funeral at 1 p.m. with Bro. Robert Hightchew officiating.  Burial will follow in New Bethel Cemetery.
