Jenny Marie Beard

Virginia Marie Beard, better known as Jenny, of Dry Ridge, Kentucky, passed away at her home Wednesday afternoon, July 24th, 2024; she was 76 years old. Jenny was born in Covington, KY on Wednesday, March 3rd, 1948 to the late Tommy and Bell Brooks. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a sister, Tina Bryant, as well as a son, Jody Abercrombie.

Jenny worked as a nurses aide in her younger years, helping to provide care for patients at a number of facilities in Covington. Later in life, she worked as a factory line-leader for several companies including Levis and American Sign. Jenny was a woman that didn’t hold back, she told you what she thought of you. “If you owed her a penny, she wanted that penny back.” Stores like Walmart learned this the hard way as she made sure she received every discount on every item she was supposed to, or else they were gonna hear about it. She didn’t want the toilet paper displayed at eye level in the store aisles, no she was calling for assistance because she wanted the toilet paper on the very top shelf. This strong, no nonsense woman took no gruff from no one.

Jenny loved to go camping anywhere and everywhere she could. When not in the great outdoors, you could often find her in the kitchen baking fresh loaves of sourdough, zucchini, and banana bread to share with the family. Though her favorite daily hobby and habit were the games she would play on her phone. Jenny would spend hours playing Word Scape and solitaire, or crushing her way through the thousands of levels of Candy Crush Saga. It was the simple things in life that brought her the most happiness and peace: a beautiful day out in the woods, the scent of bread rising in the oven, a lucky penny found heads-up on the ground.

Jenny is survived by her two adoring children: Gary Abercrombie of Williamstown, Kentucky, and Amanda Barger of Dry Ridge, Kentucky; two siblings: Eddie Brooks of Crittenden, Kentucky, and Dermia Hyden of Dry Ridge, Kentucky; as well as her long-time significant other, Randy Beard. She leaves a lasting legacy of her nine treasured grandchildren: Cheyenne Barger, Sky Barger, Brylynn Abercrombie, Gary Abercrombie, Zarhia Abercrombie, Bethanie Abercrombie, Logan Abercrombie, Brett Abercrombie, and Shay Abercrombie; as well as several cherished great-grandchildren.

Services for Jenny will be conducted at a later date at the convenience of the family.
