Joe T. Raleigh , 73, of Dry Ridge, KY, entered his eternal home on Thursday August 1, 2024 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center Emergency Room – Williamstown. Born on October 28, 1950, in Covington, KY, he was the son of the late Charlie Edward and Helen Marie Baker Raleigh.
He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Mary Talbott. Upon graduation from high school, he attended Lees Junior College in Jackson, KY. For many years he worked with Interstate Brand Corporation (IBC) where he was a Supervisor of Distribution. He had previously worked for Duro Bag in Covington. He loved watching Westerns on TV, being involved with the ministries of his church, Fairview Christian in Williamstown, but will most fondly be remembered for his whittling expertise under the “Old Apple Tree”, where he carried on many conversations with family and friends over the years, most notably, with his father, Charlie. His big heart and “Teddy Bear” approach to his grandchildren caused him to be affectionately endeared as “Papaw”.
Left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Jennifer “Jenny” Raleigh of Dry Ridge, KY; his son, Joseph Shawn Raleigh of Cincinnati, OH; two brothers: Dwight (Patsy) Raleigh of Erlanger, KY and Henry “Hank” (Paula) Raleigh of Union, KY. Also surviving are eight grandchildren: Nickalos A. Jeremiah, Casey Raleigh, Joshua Bayne, Emily Barnaby, Sergeant David Raleigh, Eric Raleigh, Kyle Raleigh, Dylan Raleigh and 10 great-grandchildren: Bentley Gage Raleigh, Harley Marie Brames, Novalee Rain Raleigh, Kayden Wayne Raleigh, Briley Evan Barnaby, Maverick Bayne, Ryker Bayne, Bennett Bayne, Noah Ray and Mason Raleigh.
Family and friends may meet at Hill Crest Cemetery at 4:00 p.m. on Friday August 9, 2024, where Joe will be laid to rest with other family members; Pastor Wayne Rice officiating. Afterwards, a “Celebration of Life” will be held at 5:30 p.m. at Fairview Christian Church; a gathering in the fellowship hall will immediately follow.
Memorial contributions may be made in Joe’s memory to Stanley Funeral Homes to go toward the funeral expenses.
