John E. Rice, Jr.

Mr. John E. Rice, Jr., a beloved resident of Independence, KY, passed away on Sunday, March 23, 2025, at the age of 63 at the St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Edgewood, KY. Born on September 12, 1961, in Covington, KY, John was the cherished son of the late John Rice, Sr. and Virginia Gauldin Rice.

John was the devoted husband of Regina Moore Rice. He was the proud owner and operator of JR Trucking for over 20 years, a testament to his hard work and dedication. A man of faith, he was a member of the Latonia Christian Church.

John had a passion for life and enjoyed fishing, UK basketball, cheering for the Bengals, watching NASCAR, riding motorcycles, and traveling, especially to the mountains. He was known for his love of family and his ability to make friends wherever he went, never meeting a stranger.

In addition to his wife Regina, John is survived by four sons, Dallas Rice, Roger (Alicia) Collins, Michael (Melissa) Collins, Nathaniel Moore, one step daughter, Danielle Kennedy, one brother in law, Gerald (Gerri) Moore, one sister in law, Virginia (Ron) Morrison, two sisters, Shirley (Joe) Reinersman, Lydna Marx, mother in law, Emma Finnell, eight grandchildren, Jaden, Brooklyn, Desarae, Dallas, Jr., Kyle, Keegan, Kaeli, Kyndal and one great grand daughter, Nova. John was preceded in death by his sister Judy Moore.

Visitation will be held on Friday, March 28, 2025, from 11am to 1pm at the Eckler McDaniel funeral home in Dry Ridge, KY, followed by funeral services at 1pm. Bro. Gerald Moore will be officiating services. He will be laid to rest at the Crittenden Cemetery in Crittenden, KY.
