Josie Chapman Johns

Mrs. Josie Dell Chapman Johns, a Florence, KY resident, passed away at the St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Florence, KY on Monday, July 11, 2022 at the age of 89.  She was the widow of the late Joe Dale Johns.

On July 20, 1932 Josie was born in Glencoe, KY to the late Oscar A Chapman and Nannie B Noel Chapman.  She was united in marriage on March 3, 1950 to Joe Dale Johns.  Josie was a current member of the Florence Baptist Church, a previous member of the Greenview Baptist Church and was a homemaker all of her adult life.  She loved to play bingo, slot machines and go to the casino.  She liked to travel to the Smokey Mountains.  She is best remembered for her cooking and baking skills with her families favorite dishes being, pies, caramel cake, peanut butter fudge, fried chicken and roast.  Josie loved her children and grandchildren.  She will be sadly missed but fondly remembered by all whom knew and loved her.

Josie is survived by two sons, Don (Marsha) Johns, Dan (Michelle) Johns, one daughter, Diana Johns, eight grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by three brothers, Donald, Harvey, Frankie and one sister, Willeen Kinman.

Visitation will be Saturday, July 16, 2022 from 10am-12 noon at the Hamilton - Stanley Funeral Home in Verona, KY. Funeral services will begin at 12 noon.  Pastor Philip Hearn will be officiating services.  Burial will follow and Josie will be laid to rest to her beloved husband at the Glencoe Cemetery in Glencoe, KY.  Hamilton - Stanley Funeral Home will be handling arrangements.
