Juanita Rose Jones

Juanita Rose Jones , 81, entered into her eternal home on Monday August 5, 2024 at her Verona, KY residence, surrounded by her loving family.   She was born on December 8, 1942, to the late Raymond and Geneva Vest Baker, Sr.

On June 20, 1959, she was united in marriage to Joseph “Joe” Boyd Jones; he preceded her in death on December 19, 2022. She worked 20 years in production at Levi Strauss but was most content farming alongside her husband on the family farm.  Juanita’s life touched so many people; her Christian walk proved to be a beautiful witness for her Lord in every way.    Early in her Christian life she taught Sunday School at South Fork Christian Church; for many years she sang in the “Southernview” Gospel Trio, which allowed them to sing in many churches. At a particular point when the Verona Fire Department was struggling with having enough firefighters, she was one of the ladies that received the necessary training to keep their eligibility.  She will most fondly be remembered for her fabulous cooking skills and most importantly, for never having a cruel word to say about anyone; always turning the other cheek and seeing the best in everyone. She was actively involved in the ministries of Violet Ridge Church of Christ in Crittenden.

Carrying on her legacy of dedication and allegiance are her two sons: Stephen Ray (Elaine) Jones, David William (Sheryl) Jones, one daughter: Anita Jo Jones, all of Verona, along with five grandchildren: Stacey Jones, Courtney Jones, Madison Jones, Zachary Jones and Morgan Jones, all of whom lovingly called her “Maw Maw”. In addition to her parents, Raymond and Geneva Baker and husband, Joe Jones, she was preceded in death by her brother, Raymond “Buck” Baker.

Visitation will be Thursday August 8, 2024 from 4 - 9:00 p.m. at Hamilton – Stanley Funeral Homes – Verona.  Visitation will resume Friday morning at 9:00 a.m. and go until the time of the funeral services at 11:00 with Pastor Tommy Simpson officiating. Burial will follow in New Bethel Cemetery in Verona.
