Kathy "Kat" Darlena Lykins

Kathy Darlena Lykins , 59, of Florence, KY, formerly of Grant County, suddenly entered into her eternal rest on Friday November 22, 2024 at St. Elizabeth Hospice Care, surrounded by her loving family.  Born on November 27, 1964 in Williamstown, she is the daughter of the late Oscar Adam and Barbara Darlene Sharpe Townsend.

“Kat” as she is affectionately known, is a unique individual that found happiness in and through her family. Family is always above anything else!! Her sons have always seen her as the most beautiful Mom in the world, acknowledging her as the “center of our universe”; she truly lives for her boys; she lives her unapologetically being herself.  Her strong and independent, no-nonsense, non-judgmental approach to life causes her to be endeared by everyone that knows her.  Always seeing the best in everyone, always putting the needs of others before her own, earned her the title of having the biggest heart in all the earth.  Her sons recognize that…”sometimes the brightest star burns out the quickest.” She will long be remembered as a “second chance” kind of person.

Carrying on ”Kat’s” legacy of commitment to family includes her three sons: Matt Shane (Ashlie) Townsend of Peterburg, Tyler (Destiny) Lykins of Georgetown, Ross (Kali) Lykins of Louisville; her fiance’, Anthony Paul Pierce; one brother: Mark Townsend of Dry Ridge; two sisters: Carmen Townsend of Lexington and Millie Townsend of Williamstown.  Also surviving are four grandchildren: Keagen Cole, King Wyatt Lykins, Layne Rivera and Augie Lykins.

Visitation is being celebrated on her 60th Birthday, Wednesday November 27th from 3:00 – 5:00 p.m. at Eckler McDaniel Funeral Homes in Dry Ridge. Beginning at 5:00 her three sons will be commemorating the life of this beautiful lady that has touched and continues to touch so many lives.
