Kenneth Wesley Guinn

September 23, 1962 — May 19, 2020

Kenneth Wesley Guinn , 57, of Lexington, died Tuesday May 19, 2020 at V. A. Medical Center in Lexington. Born in Berea, KY, he was the son of Mary Johnson and the late Donald Wesley Guinn.

Kenny retired from Honda of America Manufacturing in Marysville, OH, where he worked as a Quality Control Inspector. Upon retirement, he became a semi-truck driver and worked as a construction engineer on various construction sites. He will long be remembered for his skills in crafts and as a handy man, lovingly known to everyone as “Mr. Fix-it”. He also had special abilities in cooking, with his specialty in making “the best omelets”, but Kenny will best be remembered for his willingness to always reach out to help others. He was a 1980 graduate of Simon Kenton High School where he played on the basketball team.

From 1980 to ’84, Kenny proudly served his country in the United States Army, serving in the 101 st Airborne Division (Screaming Eagles) as well as the 82 nd Airborne Division. His last duty assignment was the 327 th Airborne Infantry Regiment, based out of Fort Campbell, KY. He earned many badges and medals during his military service; among those were, NCO Professional Development Ribbon and Air Assault Badge. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans.

Kenny leaves to cherish his legacy, one son: Kaleb Wesley (Emma) Guinn of Marysville, OH; one daughter: Kara L. (Douglas) Robb of Raymond, OH; his mother: Mary Johnson of Louisville, KY; two brothers: Rob (Ann) Guinn of LaGrange, KY, Bert (Jessica) Guinn of Crestwood, KY and one sister: Deborah Guinn Jones of Louisville, KY. Two grandchildren also survive: Evie and Ettie, whom affectionately loved their “Papa Ken”. He had many cherished nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister: Donna Guinn Kaufman.

A “Celebration of Remembrance” will be held June 15, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at KY Veterans Cemetery – North in Williamstown, KY with full military honors. (This date is subject to change but any changes will be updated on this webpage.)
