Kenneth Lee “Ken” Munday of Frenchburg, KY was born July 20, 1940 in Covington, KY and died Sunday, November 10, 2024 in Mt. Sterling, KY at the age of 84 years.
He was the son of the late Lyman B. and Mildred Bowman Munday. He was retired owner operator of Munday Lock and Safe, Florence, KY as well as a former school music and gymnastics teacher. On October 2, 1981 he was united in marriage to his wife, Brenda Riley Munday. In addition to his parents, Ken was also preceded in death by one brother, Gerald Earl Munday; brother-in-law, David Haines; and daughter-in-law, Angela Marie Horne.
Ken was very active in his communities. He was a former music director at Dyersburg First United Methodist Church, former youth director at West End Methodist Church, Nashville, TN, former Boy Scout troop leader, member of the Red River Gorge Search and Rescue, former EMT and instructor, an Honorary Menifee County Sheriff’s Deputy, and 1990 Florence KY Man of the Year.
Surviving is his wife, Brenda Riley Munday of Frenchburg; four sons, David Edison (Joanne) Munday of Cincinnati, Douglas Evans (Linda) Horne of Verona, Steven Andrew Munday of Cincinnati, and Timothy Evans Horne of Verona; 13 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one sister, Pamela Ann Haines of Williamstown; one brother, Ronald George (Reeva) Munday of Mt Dora, FL; and sister-in-law, Sara Fuller Munday of Gulf Breeze, FL.
A “Celebration of Life” will take place at 2:00pm Tuesday, November 19, 2024 at the Elliston-Stanley Funeral Home, Crittenden. Visitation will also be Tuesday 1:00-2:00pm at the funeral home.
