Mr. Kline D. Shipp of Dry Ridge, KY. passed away Sunday, January 13 in Tavares, Florida after a brief illness. Mr. Shipp was born May 28, 1933 in Covington, KY. to the late John W. Shipp and Mae Stephens Shipp. Mr. Shipp was retired from the Federal Land Bank in Dry Ridge, KY. where he served as President. Mr. Shipp was a graduate of the University of Kentucky College of Agriculture and he served as the treasurer for the University of Kentucky College of Agriculture Alumni Association as well as serving as the former Chancellor for the Alpha Zeta Fraternity. Mr. Shipp was a charter member of the Eagle Creek Country Club, a member of the former Dry Ridge Kiwanis where he helped with the Little League teams, former member of the Dry Ridge City Council, former chairman of the Grant County Planning and Zoning Commission, longtime member and Elder of the Dry Ridge Christian Church where he was also the former Board Chairman. Mr. Shipp had also served as the President of the former Citizens Bank in Dry Ridge. Mr. Shipp proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. On December 31, 1955 Mr. Shipp was united in marriage to Nora Lee Hubbard.
In addition to his parents Mr. Shipp was preceded in death by a great grandson: Aiden Michael Kells.
Mr. Shipp is survived by his wife of 63 years: Nora Lee Hubbard Shipp, a daughter: Leisa L. Shipp of Florence, KY., a son: Scott D. Shipp and his wife Sherry of Dry Ridge, KY., a brother: Dr. Darl B. Shipp and his wife Linda of Dry Ridge, KY., 3 grandchildren: John Michael Kells and his wife Missy of Union, KY., Joshua Shipp and his wife Lauren of Lexington, KY., Lindsey Shipp of Lexington, KY., 2 great grandchildren: Drew Janszen and Josh Janszen.
Funeral services for Mr. Kline D. Shipp will be conducted 2:00 pm Sunday, January 20 at the Dry Ridge Christian Church with Rev. Tim Polley officiating. Visitation will be Saturday, January 19 from 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm in the chapel of the Eckler-McDaniel Funeral Home, Dry Ridge. There will be additional visitation Sunday at the church from 1:00 pm until the funeral hour. Burial will be in the Hillcrest Cemetery, Dry Ridge. Memorial contributions if desired may be directed to the Dry Ridge Christian Church Building Fund.
