Larry Wayne Ruby

Larry Wayne Ruby, 72, of Dry Ridge, Kentucky passed away Tuesday, October 5, 2021 near his home.  He was born in Dry Ridge, Kentucky on February 11, 1949 to the late Kenneth A. and Jean Dawalt Ruby.

Larry was retired from the USDA as a Federal Meat Inspector and also retired Owner/Operator of Ruby's Boat Dock.  Larry can best be described as a man of many talents.  He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, and being a mechanic.  He was also known to be a thrill seeker enjoying hang gliding, race car driving, and skiing - water and snow.  Larry was also an avid hunter and enjoyed annual trips to South Dakota with family and friends.  He volunteered for many years dressing up as a clown and going to visit children at hospitals.

Larry was preceded in death by two spouses: Donna Rae Skirvin Ruby in 1986 and Virginia Dare Napier Ruby in 2020.

He is survived by his sons: Jeremiah William Ruby of Dry Ridge and Shawn Wayne Ruby of Dry Ridge; and daughter: Donna Michele Whitley of Dry Ridge; Bryan Scott Skinner (Bonnie) of Williamstown; Ashley Nicole Gordon (Todd) of Williamstown; 3 brothers: Kenneth R. Ruby (Sherry) of Dry Ridge, Randy Lee Ruby (Linda) of Morningview and Jerry Ruby of Dry Ridge; 3 sisters: Rita Fay Thompson (Jerry) of Dry Ridge, Wanda Jean Switzer (Eddie) of Dry Ridge and Mary Jo Keith of Dry Ridge; and 7 grandchildren: Kassidy Whitley, Konnor Whitley, Carlee Ruby, Chelsey Ruby, Elizabeth Drahman, Harper Skinner and Nova Gordon.  Also survived by his two loyal canine companions, Snicker and Stormy who were by his side at his time of passing.

Visitation will be 11:00 AM - 2:00 PM, Friday, October 8, 2021 at Elliston-Stanley Funeral Home, Williamstown.  Funeral services will be 2:00 PM, Friday, at the funeral home.  Burial will follow in the Hill Crest Cemetery, Dry Ridge.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Team Chelsey Smiles - for his granddaughter Chelsey Ruby who is affected by Cystic Fibrosis, c/o Elliston-Stanley Funeral Home, P.O. Box 130, Williamstown, KY  41097.
