Lawrence Gene Mackey

Lawrence Gene Mackey was born April 20, 1957 in Roseville, California and passed away March 6, 2025 in Edgewood, Kentucky at the age of 67.  He was the son of the late Louis and Wilma Kissinger Mackey.

Larry, as he was best known, was a retired truck driver. In his younger days he loved bowling and could be found at the bowling alley most Friday nights.  He enjoyed going on road trips to wherever the road would lead, but his favorite destination was the beach.  His family will remember him for being a great story teller and for the the sci-fi movies he loved to watch that they all called "Papa movies".  Larry was also an avid Las Vegas Raiders and Oakland Athletics fan.

Larry is survived by his companion of over 36 years, Susan Benefield; three sons: Brandon Mackey (Ashley) of Salida, CA, Travis Mackey of Waterford, CA and Jeremy Kirkland (Krissy) of Warsaw, KY; a daughter: Latisha Hale (Jaymee) of Sanders, KY; a son-in-law: Rusty Hale of Verona; three sisters: Patty, Kaye (Dave) and Debbie (Rick); and 17 grandchildren.  He dearly loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Misty Hale.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date and at the convenience of the family.
