Lisa Carol Whitworth of Williamstown, Kentucky, passed away at St. Elizabeth Hospital of Edgewood, KY on Sunday, March 5th, 2023 at the age of 66. She was born in the golden state of California on Sunday, November 18th, 1956 to Joanne Phipps and the late Leo Braun. Along with her father, Lisa is preceded in death by her beloved husband Billy Joe Whitworth, as well as her son Mathew Whitworth, and her siblings Gabriel and Angela. She is survived by her son Richard Whitworth (Crystal) of Burlington, KY, her brother Mike Mayer (Holly) of Washington State, and her sister Mona of California.
A great admirer of nature and flowers, Lisa adored working the earth in her garden with the dirt benerath her hands. Every animal held a place in her heart; her 5 dogs, 5 cats and numerous fish will miss her dearly. Her favorite thing to eat was fresh caught catfish and you could count on her to never turn down a piece of cake. She held a deep appreciation for cream soda and lemonade- really anything lemon was ideal for her; which she loved to sip while watching episodes of her favorite television series, The Walking Dead. Over the years she acquired a passion for sewing and became a true “Jane of All Trades”- nothing stayed broken or torn for long while Lisa was around.
Lisa leaves a legacy of her 13 cherished grandchildren. Affectionately called Boo Boo by them, her grandkids were her absolute everything in life. She treasured them and they her. They wished to thank her for helping them with their homework, setting up their xbox, passing down a love of crafting and bracelet making, and for always being there to fix any bikes or toys that broke. Caspian was her little buddy, who reminded her of Ricky, he was her “Little Ricky.” She found love within the family she built. They helped her to turn her life around, to discover the soft, loving core within her that she struggled to find while growing up.
Services for Lisa will be conducted at a later date at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions may be made in Lisa’s memory toward the expenses of the services, care of Stanley Funeral Homes.
