Lola Dempsey Dunaway was born July 9, 1927 in Corinth, Kentucky and passed away Sept. 9, 2022 in Williamstown, Kentucky at the age of 95. She was the daughter of the late Evan Settle and Myrtle May Green Dempsey.
On July 12, 1953 Lola was united in marriage to George Berry "G.B." Dunaway who preceded her in death on May 12, 2008. In addition to her husband, Lola was preceded in death by her sister, Corinne Hudson.
She is survived by her son and his wife: Jeffrey Dempsey Dunaway and Pennie of Williamstown; three grandchildren: Jason Derrick (Natalie) Dunaway, Natalie Velma (Jarrod) Sharp and Evan George Dunaway all of Williamstown; and a great grandson: Avett Michael Dunaway.
Lola was a retired Telephone Operator for Cincinnati Bell and owner of Grant Co. Oil Company with her son Jeff. She was a longtime member of Williamstown Baptist Church and a member of Daughters of the American Revolution. In her free time she enjoyed reading and working crossword puzzles as well as spending time with and cooking for her family. She will always be remembered as "The Best Ice Cream Scooper and Cheeseburger Maker" by her family and their many friends who visited over the years.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM, Tuesday, Sept. 13, 2022 at Elliston-Stanley Funeral Home in Williamstown. Visitation will be 12:00 - 2:00 PM, Tuesday, at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Pythian Grove Cemetery in Berry, KY.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Williamstown Baptist Church, 214 N. Main St., Williamstown, KY 41097 or to the Bluegrass Hospice, 1733 Harrodsburg Rd., Lexington, KY 40504.
