Marcella Dyer Scudder

July 22, 1943 — March 17, 2022

Marcella Dyer Scudder, age 78, of Corinth, KY passed away Thursday morning March 17, 2022 at St. Elizabeth Hospice Center in Edgewood, KY.  Born Thursday July 22, 1943 in Marshall, MI, she was the daughter of the late Austin and Marie Allen Dyer.

Marcella most recently worked at the Ark Encounter in Williamstown as a Customer Service Clerk. In previous years she had worked at Hoover’s, Square D and as a desk clerk at Holiday Inn.  She will long be remembered for her greatest passion, making her many handmade quilts of which she poured many countless hours crafting over the years. She was a member of Berry Baptist Church in Berry, KY.

On June 20, 1991, Marcella married James Scudder; he preceded her in death on June 24, 2020. She leaves to cherish her memory, three daughters: Paula (Matthew) Malone of Corinth, Pamela Baxter of Cynthiana, Lori Lynn Jones (Rob Gunter) of Berry; four sisters: Arbiedella “Della” (late John) Richerson of Jonesville, Jeanette (Jimmy) Franklin of Georgetown, Anita (James) Wright of Mason, Denise (Steve) Epperson of London, and three brothers: Aaron Dyer of Corinth, Afton (Bonnie) Dyer of Corinth and Donnie (Peggy) Dyer of Corinth. Seven grandchildren also survive: Nicholas Burns, Austin Burns, Nitosha Moore, Zachary Pickett, Austin Malone, Sheldon Baxter and Ethan Malone along with 11 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren, all of whom lovingly referred to “Grandma”.  She was preceded in death by three brothers: Densel Dyer, Ronnie Dyer and Lonnie Dyer.

Visitation will be Tuesday March 22, 2022 from 11:00 a.m. till 1:00 p.m. at McDaniel Funeral Homes in Corinth.  Funeral services will begin at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Jim Sears officiating.  She will be laid to rest beside her late husband, James, in Morgan Cemetery in Berry.  Serving as pallbearers are: Chris Burns, Austin Malone, Rob Gunter, Ethan Malone, Matthew Malone and Zachary Pickett.

Corinth Baptist Church will be hosting a meal in Marcella's honor and memory following the interment. Memorial contributions may be made in Marcella’s memory to: Gideon’s International or  Morgan Cemetery Fund.
