Maria Esther Colon

Maria Esther Colon, 91, of Crittenden, KY entered into her eternal rest on Friday May 13, 2022 at her residence.  Born Sunday May 25, 1930 in Cuba, she was the daughter of the late Augustin and Caridad (Ceruto) Heredia.

On September 21, 1957 she was united in marriage to John Joseph Colon; he preceded her in death on November 22, 1993. She was a dedicated homemaker and housewife. Her creativity in everything she did made her a uniquely talented individual; she was always meticulously adding a special touch, whether it be cooking, gardening, sewing, knitting or crocheting. She loved all kinds of animals; whether they be horses, chickens, dogs, cats, cows…she treated all animals like she treated people, with love, kindness and respect.  Because of her untiring work ethics, she will long be remembered as a “work horse” but is best described overall as an “amazing lady”. Up until illness prevented her from attending church, she attended the church her son pastored, Lighthouse on the Rock Fellowship in Dry Ridge.

She leaves to carry on her legacy, one son: Rev. Jeff (Rose) Colon of Corinth, KY; two daughters: Denise (John) Marinacci of Dry Ridge, KY, Diane (Frank) DiBenedetto of Crittenden, KY and one sister: Dinorah Heredia of Florida.  Six grandchildren also survive: Christian, Samantha, Brett, James, Luke and Lydia along with three great-grandchildren: Ethan, Leighton and Eleanora.

A ‘Celebration of Life” will be held at the convenience of the family at a later date.  Memorial contributions may be made in Maria’s memory to:
