Mariann Hooper Hutchison

Mariann Hooper Hutchison was born July 2, 1944 in Freemanspur, Illinois and passed away September 7, 2024 in Edgewood, Kentucky at the age of 80.  She was the daughter of the late Thomas Harvey and Margaret Ann Surgalski Hooper.

Mariann was a retired animal cruelty investigator in Illinois and also worked as a wildlife rehabilitationist. She loved horseback riding, especially her horse Shamar, and was well known for her crocheting.  Mariann spent most of her life as a major animal advocate and volunteered many hours in local animal shelters in Centralia, Illinois and Grant County, KY.  While she loved animals and caring for them, she was most proud of being a grandma and loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandsons.

On July 18, 1964, Mariann was united in marriage to Charles Edward Hutchison who preceded her in death on Feb. 13, 2015.  She is survived by her daughter, LeAnn Hutchison Bill of Mt. Olivet, KY, two grandchildren, Erik Buerkle of Irvington, KY and Brittany Renner (Benny) of Mt. Olivet, KY, and her two great grandsons, Christopher and James Renner.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Christopher Lee Hutchison, in 1998.

Memorial services will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family.
