Marilyn Marx Leathers

Mrs. Marilyn Marx Leathers was born Oct. 30, 1935 in Elmhurst, IL to Frederick and Alice (Hamilton) Marx.  She passed away peacefully at her home in Union, KY surrounded by family on Thursday, March 25, 2021 at the age of 85.  She was the widow of the late Thomas L. Leathers, DMD.

Marilyn was a dental hygienist for 40+ years for Thomas L. Leathers Dentist Office in Erlanger.  She was a member of the First Church of Christ in Burlington, KY.  She loved boating, knitting, RV traveling, reading, cooking and collecting decorative plates.  She liked to work in her vegetable garden, she enjoyed walks on the farm and overlooking Timber Lane on her farm.  She was a former president of the Lyons Club, was a former hospice worker and enjoyed Kentucky Basketball.  She loved her pets and had a fondness for her dogs, Willie and Jiggs.  She was a wonderful hostess who enjoyed throwing parties for friends and family and holding family occasions and holidays at her home.  Her family describes her as a loving and caring mother and grandmother who cherished every minute she spent with them. Marilyn will be sadly missed but fondly remembered by all whom knew and loved her.

Marilyn is survived by two sons, Mark L. (Richard Ketterer) Leathers of Lebanon, OH, Thomas A. Leathers of Burlington, KY, one granddaughter, Christy (Brad) Burnett of Crittenden, KY, one grandson, Thomas R. Leathers of Union, KY, one great grandson, Kayden Burnett, a beloved niece, Patsy (Peter) Hollister of Florence, KY, numerous nieces and nephews, and other family and friends.  In addition to her husband Thomas, she was preceded in death by one brother, Wendell Marx, and sister Dorothy Trubow.

Visitation will be at the New Bethel Cemetery on Tuesday, March 30, 2021 from 11:30am-12 noon.  A Graveside service will begin at 12noon.  Memorials are suggested to the ASPCA.
