Marvin Ray Belew

November 3, 1935 — May 16, 2022

Marvin Ray Belew was born November 3, 1935 in Pendleton Co., Kentucky and passed away May 16, 2022 at his home in Knoxville, TN surrounded by family.  He was the son of the late Fred Theodore and Eunice Evaline McCarty Belew.

Marvin retired as an Engineer for The Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA).  Before he worked with TVA he was an Engineer with the U.S. Army Missile Command (now known as NASA) and the Oak Ridge National Laboratories (ORNL).

He was a member of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church in Kentucky and Grace Baptist Church in Knoxville, TN.  He was also a member of several professional organizations: Instrument Society of America, IEEE, and he was a committee member for the Nuclear Regulatory Commission.

On Aug. 28, 1954, Marvin was united in marriage to Donna Marie Brumback Belew.  In addition to his wife of over 67 years he is survived by his son: Gregory Alan (Sharon) Belew of Brighton, TN; two sisters: Wanda Riddle of Florence and Brenda (Thomas) Chapman of Berea; a sister-in-law: Pat Belew of Aiken, SC; his granddaughter: Lydia (Will) Butler of Marion, AR; a great grandson: Bowman Butler; and numerous nieces/nephews and great nieces/nephews.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Carol Jean Belew, on Feb. 16, 1997.  Additionally he was preceded in death by his brother, Wendell Belew, and a brother-in-law, Jim Riddle.

Graveside services will be 2:00 PM, Friday, May 20, 2022 at Williamstown Cemetery.  Burial will follow in the Williamstown Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you follow one of his greatest passions and visit and enjoy the treasures of a National Park.
