Marvin Jay O'Neill

Marvin Jay O’Neill , 79, of Union, KY passed away Saturday, December 18, 2021 at his residence in Union, KY.  Born March 23, 1942 in Dry Ridge, KY, he was the son of the late Lee Roy and Wilma Eileen Day O’Neill.

Marvin will long be remembered for his love for his community and family.  He was an avid sports fan; he particularly loved UK Basketball and the Cincinnati Reds. He loved gatherings with family and friends playing his hand at Rook, Rummy or Uno.  In 1979, he was inducted into the Grant County Basketball Hall of Fame, he operated the Corinth Service Station for 14 years and he worked with Bi - County Co-op Feed Store in Florence. For 25 years he was the farm manager for Neltner Farm in Union and for eight years, he served as a deck hand for Anderson Ferry. At the age of 12 he made a profession of faith at Dry Ridge Baptist Church; he currently held his membership at Unity Baptist Church.

He leaves to carry on his legacy one son: Marvin David O’Neill of Lexington; five daughters: Lee Ann (Aric) Luck of Walton, Mary Alison Compton of Union, Sue Ellen (Rob)  Stamper of Walton, Debra Ann (Brad) Wilson of Crittenden, Diana Lynn (Brian) Niceley of Walton; one brother: Larry David (Connie) O’Neill of Dry Ridge; ten grandchildren: Troy Adams, Jaxon Niceley, Jalynn Niceley, Jessie Jane Niceley, Levi Wilson, Leah Wilson, Masen Stamper, Maddie Luck, Avery Daugherty and Brielle Compton; and best friends: Gary Wayne and Ann Adams of Walton.  He was preceded in death by a brother: Bobby O’Neill and a sister: Patsy Stith.

Visitation will be Wednesday, December 22, 2021 from 5:00 p.m. till 9:00 p.m. at Stanley Funeral Homes, Williamstown location.  Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, December 23, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Mike Jones officiating.  Burial will follow in Hill Crest Cemetery in Dry Ridge.
